Identity of Human Remains Found Near Tilden Confirmed
The remains of an adult male found on February 21, 2016 near Tilden, Nebraska have been identified. According to Inv. Jon Downey of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, it has been confirmed through DNA analysis that the remains are those of Jacob John Henningsen, of Sioux Falls, SD. There is no indication of foul play in regards to Henningsen’s death.
Henningsen, who was 24 at the time of his death, was known to be in the Norfolk area on July 6, 2015 but a positive identification could not be made until now. The identification was made by way of a match of DNA profiles within the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) database.
Henningsen was reported missing to the Sioux Falls Police Department on November 20, 2015.
Both the Madison County and Sioux Falls cases were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), which assisted in making the DNA identification.
Downey asks that anyone who may have had contact with Henningsen on or about July 6, 2015 to contact him at (402) 454-2110 or info@madisoncountysheriff.com
