*Correction* On September 10, 2021 at approximately 1:38 PM, Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious vehicle located at Will’s Paint and Body in Tilden NE. The vehicle was a white 1994 Chevy Suburban with 35″ tires. Upon further investigation this vehicle was found to be stolen from the North Platte area. Witnesses say a black male wearing all black clothing and carrying a black back pack was seen getting out of the truck and walking away from the area earlier in the day. After a short amount of time , witnesses advised, that same male was seen walking east bound on Hwy 275 away from Tilden. Deputies were able to locate the male and had contact with him. The male identified himself as 40 yo Timothy Pickett (homeless). Pickett was then transported back to the stolen vehicle where he was positively identified by a witness. Pickett was then arrested for being in Possession of Stolen Property and booked in to the Madison County Jail. Madison County Sheriff ## |

Hwy 81 – 32 Junction 2 vehicle Accident with one Fatality

On April 14 at approximately 15:35 an accident was reported at the intersection of Hwy 81 and Hwy 32 near Madison. A north bound Nissan Murano collided with an east bound Buick Le Sabre. Both vehicles sustained major damage and came to rest in the northeast ditch.
The Nissan had three passengers. Two adults were wearing their seat belts and an infant in a car seat. All three were transported to faith regional health services with varying degrees of injuries.
There were two occupants in the Buick. The driver of the Buick was wearing her seat belt and was transported to Faith Regional ER with possible severe injuries. A front seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown if he was wearing his seat belt. The front seat passenger was trapped in the car and required the jaws of life to remove him. Responding to the scene was Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Police Department, Madison Fire and Rescue, and Nebraska State Patrol. The scene blocked part of Hwy 81 for several hours before the scene was cleared.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
UPDATED: The individual who passed away, due to the injuries sustained in the accident, was Charlie Kethcart (73 YOA) of rural Stanton County, Nebraska. Kethcart was the passenger of the Buick.
