Notes on applicant testing 3-28-2015

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is conducting application testing tomorrow 3-28-2015 for those who previously submitted applications and were notified in writing to attend.

For those attending, please read the following reminders:

Written test: 

Testing will begin promptly at 10:00AM on 3-28-2015 at the Madison Fire Hall located at 204 W. 1st Street Madison NE. Please refer to this location if using Google Maps to locate the fire hall.  https://goo.gl/maps/cwUda

Persons taking this test are required to bring two (2) pencils and scratch paper as desired; no calculators will be allowed.

Veterans please bring your DD-214 to the testing if you have not already provided a copy. Active military personnel must provide documentation of active duty status at the time of testing.

Those who meet the minimum threshold for written test scores will be invited to the physical test. Please check the posted written scores after testing to determine your eligibility. Scores will be posted on the north door of the Courthouse and in the Sheriff’s Department lobby.

Physical test:

Physical testing will be conducted in and adjacent to the north parking lot of the Madison County Courthouse, 1313 N. Main Street, Madison NE. Please refer to this location if using Google Maps to locate the Courthouse  https://goo.gl/maps/ibvFP

The north door of the Courthouse will be unlocked at 12:30PM to allow access to the restrooms. Appropriate clothing and footwear are recommended.

Please be present at the north doors of the Courthouse promptly at 1:00PM to begin the physical testing.

The physical fitness testing will consist of the following tests in the following order:

  • Wall climb
  • Vertical jump
  • 1-minute situps
  • 300 meter run
  • 1-minute pushups
  • 1.5 mile run

Ample rest periods will be observed between tests.

The testing battery will take approximately 90 minutes to complete.

Once the testing phase is completed scores will be calculated and posted. Those who pass the physical portion of the testing process will be invited to the oral interviews to be held on April 1, 2015 at the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. Interview times will be posted with scores at the conclusion of the physical testing.

Do not leave until you have determined your eligibility (and time if applicable) for the oral interview.
